Rediscovering a Childhood Treasure...
When I think back to my childhood, I remember my father as a frugal yet thoughtful man. Late 70s, toys and new clothes were rare treats for me. But whenever my father traveled for work, he'd bring back something special. One unforgettable gift was a projector and a stack of slides filled with classic fairy tales, images of faraway places, and even footage from moon exploration. Watching those slides was like stepping into a world of wonder.
Fast forward to my forties, after over 20 years in the tech industry. Despite jet-setting across different countries and delving into complex fields like precise positioning and disaster warnings, family time became scarce. Then, the pandemic hit, forcing me to stay home with my wife and daughter. It was a time for reflection.During a visit to mum in Taipei, I stumbled upon that old projector toy. It was still there, perfectly preserved. Cleaning it up and sharing it with my daughter brought back memories of innocence and curiosity. Even though my father had passed away, I felt his presence in that moment.
It made me realize that the future we're chasing after is right here, with our children. And so, "CubieLand" was born — a tribute to my father and a gift for my child. By blending technology with whimsy, we've created a toy that brings joy to both parents and children. Let's slow down, listen, and embrace the joy of being together as a family again.
